Podiatric Biomechanics
Podiatric Biomechanics involves the study of the function of the lower limb. The podiatrist is specially trained to ascertain and diagnose any malalignments in your lower limb structures.
During an assessment of the lower limb the following tests will be undertaken.
- Your joint range of motion will be assessed for all your foot joints, your leg, knee and lower back.
- The alignment of your feet, legs, knees and thigh will be measured and calculated.
- Your muscle strength will be assessed for your feet, leg, knee and thigh muscles.
If our podiatrist feels that you either have tightening or weakness of a specific muscle group, stretching and strengthening exercises will be prescribed.
If our podiatrist feels that you have a foot, leg, knee or lower back mal-alignment we would suggest that you make an appointment to have your gait analysed on our 3D Gait System. This system will highlight and confirm postural and structural mal-alignments.
Prescription Foot Orthotics can then be made to correct this.
